A Home Away From Home

Where the Day
Doesn’t End at 3pm

Being a residential school means learning does not stop when the school day ends. Students develop independence, responsibility, collaboration and empathy while living in a safe, nurturing and multicultural environment.

What Boarding Actually Teaches

Sharing a cubicle with three others who grew up somewhere else, speaking another language at home, is an education in itself. Boarders sort out their own disagreements, keep their own timetable and notice when a friend is having a bad week. Our residential system runs to five boys’ houses and one girls’ house, with four students to a cubicle.

Wardens, assistant wardens and on-site nurses are there throughout, and housekeeping keeps the dormitories clean without the children having to chase it. The intent is simple: a boarder should have room to study, play and switch off, and an adult nearby whenever one is needed.

Nine Things We Hold Ourselves To

Not aspirations — the standards our houses are actually run against.

Running Their Own Day

Prep, laundry, kit, deadlines. A boarder manages the small things themselves - which is how the big things stop being frightening.

Everyone Counts

Seniority does not buy privileges here. Every resident has the same standing in the house.

Learning After Hours

The best conversations happen in prep and after it - between learners, not at them.

More Than One Way Home

Festivals, food and languages from across the country, lived alongside rather than studied.

At Ease Anywhere

A plural, secular house culture, so a child is comfortable in rooms where nobody shares their background.

Zero Tolerance, Stated Plainly

No ragging, no bullying, no abuse. Reported without fuss, acted on without delay.

Somewhere to Be Alone

Shared living with enough privacy that a child can shut the world out for an hour.

Looking After the Place

Responsibility for their own space, for each other, and for the campus around them.

An Adult Who Notices

Wardens, nurses and counsellors who spot a difficult week early, rather than after it becomes a problem.
