Voyage à Travers La France: Celebrating Language, Heritage, and Art
On Friday, August 7, 2026, the Cambridge International Education (CIE) Department at PSSEMR School, Davangere, hosted its flagship annual cultural extravaganza, "Voyage à Travers La France" (French Day Celebration). Held at the SS Ganesh Auditorium, the event offered an immersive journey into the heart of Francophone language, history, performing arts, and gastronomy.
Aligned with the Cambridge Learner Attributes, the celebration engaged students from Grade 1 through Grade 10, bridging classroom linguistic foundations with live stagecraft, creative expression, and experiential learning.

1. Ceremonial Invocations & Welcome Choral Harmony
The evening commenced with a traditional welcome to dignitaries led by French Teacher Ms. Anu. Following the opening formalities, the Grade 6 choir delivered a rendition of "Prière Baha'i pour les enfants," setting a peaceful and culturally resonant tone for the evening.
Performers: Sukruthi, Digvi, Harshitha, Punya, Chetana, Aradhya, Vedika, and Shravya.
2. A Visual Journey Across the French Republic
A curated multimedia presentation introduced the audience to the iconic monuments, regional geography, architectural heritage, and historical landmarks of France, establishing rich visual context for the live acts that followed.
3. Primary & Middle School Linguistic Melodies
Grades 1 to 4: Students charmed the audience with lively presentations of "Bonjour! Mes amis, comment ça va?" and the classic folk tune "Dans la ferme à Mathurin."
Grade 5: Learners delivered an energetic performance of "Dans mon petit sac," demonstrating confident pronunciation and vocabulary mastery.
Grade 7: Students showcased vocal harmony with their rendition of the French song "Clarinet."
4. Choreography & Cultural Dances
Spanning traditional and contemporary styles, primary students (Grades 1–5) and senior learners (Grades 6–10) staged synchronized dance routines set to popular French tracks, reflecting teamwork, rhythm, and stage coordination.
5. French Celebrity Fashion Showcase
Transforming the stage into a cultural runway, students portrayed legendary French figures from world history, arts, science, and sports. Character portrayals ranged from historical leaders like Napoleon Bonaparte to sporting legends like Zinedine Zidane.
Featured Student Portrayals: Bharat, Bhagat, Ankita, Thanush, Puneeth, Hardik, Mohan, and Medini.
6. Theatrical Play: The French Revolution of 1789
Senior students staged a dramatic reenactment of the French Revolution, bringing pivotal historical moments to life. The production highlighted the enduring global ideals of "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité" (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity), connecting historical inquiry with dramatic storytelling.
7. Interactive Learning: Quiz & Parent Engagement
Interactive Quiz: Grade 6 hosts Amogh and Kushal challenged the audience with dynamic trivia on French culture, geography, and language, awarding spot prizes to enthusiastic participants.
Parent French Lesson: Student Hansika N. N., alongside the CIE French department, conducted a micro-language workshop inviting parents to learn and practice daily conversational phrases such as "Bonjour" and "Merci."
Dignitary Address & Grand Finale
Addressing the gathering, BHPEMS Principal Mrs. J. S. Vanita commended the CIE Department and students for crafting an experiential, multilingual platform. She emphasized how early foreign language acquisition builds cognitive flexibility, intercultural empathy, and global career readiness in an interconnected world.
The formal stage proceedings concluded with a respectful presentation of the French National Anthem, "La Marseillaise," followed by a vote of thanks honoring the participating students, educators, and parent community.
The French Culinary Promenade: Café de Paris
Extending learning beyond the stage, the evening concluded with an authentic French culinary pavilion. Parents, guests, and students savored classic French delicacies, including fresh croissants, sweet crêpes, and artisan pastries, providing a tasteful end to the cultural celebration.
